A Caregiver’s Tear
By Randal S. Doaty
A touch of gentle kindness,
Some words to soothe my soul,
The presence of someone who cares,
The moments I felt whole.
An angel in my darkness
Who brought the gift of light.
Blessed be the servant
Who tends me through this fight.
How can I repay you?
What shall be your gift?
A servant’s heart is priceless –
What token might I lift?
A simple tear I offer;
It looks like all tears do.
But this tear’s made of solid glass -
My way to honor you.
My thanks shall last forever,
To you who cared for me.
Your gift of gentle kindness,
Pure love that all could see.

A Father’s Tear
By Randal S. Doaty
Fathers have a special place
Within their child’s heart,
A place where they shall always live,
From which they won’t depart.
He shares your life within you;
He joins you every day.
He listens when you speak to him,
To every word you say.
Life has different meaning
When two dwell in one heart.
There to share life’s circumstance,
Your father does his part.
This shall be his signal -
He sends his Father’s Tear.
Every time you miss him,
He lets you know he’s here.
Live your life with purpose;
Be all that you can be.
Bring honor to this man within -
Your father proudly sees!

A Mother’s Tear
By Randal S. Doaty
When you have lost your mother,
Your world is not the same.
Tears of loss that you may shed,
Should bring to you no shame.
The special love your mother
Had always shared with you,
For now lost in your sorrows…
Seems nothing you can do.
But love shared by your Mother
Is not forever lost.
This grief you feel - a payment,
A temporary cost.
The love shared with your mother,
Now where it’s meant to be.
It’s in your heart forever,
Her love stored perfectly.
Glass Tears help you remember,
The love you still possess,
Her gift you’ll keep forever…
A mother’s tenderness!

A Parent’s Tear
By Randal S. Doaty
Parents shed a special tear
When children move away
To follow dreams now calling them;
You wish that they could stay.
To let them go – no easy task;
It breaks a parent’s heart.
To hold them back – a big mistake;
Your faith must do its part.
Your children love you both -
You know they really do!
Together you may shed some tears,
But love shall see you through.
Fear not the Bible tells us,
To God - surrender all.
Let go in faith and trust the Lord
In all trials great and small.
We share this simple tear of glass,
A symbol that we care -
To let you know we’ll pray for you;
In times of need – we’re there!

Brave Enough To Dream
By Randal S. Doaty
A tear is just another way
Our human heart can speak.
Teardrops say what words cannot.
To hide them makes us weak.
Be brave enough to shed your tears;
Your tears, refuse to hide,
Be brave enough – unleash that voice
That beckons deep inside.
Your dreams live deep within you, too,
That softer voice within.
Be brave enough to dream your dreams.
It’s then your dreams begin.
Life’s too short to worry
What other folks might say.
The world’s not fond of tears or dreams.
Ignore them – start today!
This tear of glass – your symbol,
A tear you proudly wear.
Now share your dreams with all the world;
Release them – that’s a dare!

Our Battle Tear
By Randal S. Doaty
This tear shall be a symbol
That you intend to fight
The evil cells within you
Whose presence has no right.
This tear shall be a symbol
That hope is now your creed,
If words of doubt should whisper
Some thoughts you do not need.
This tear shall be a symbol -
Your feelings are your own,
A pledge to those around,
You’ll make your wishes known.
This tear shall be a symbol
From those who love you dear.
We join you in this battle,
Stand by you ever near.
This tear shall be a promise
To carry through this fight.
When in your darkest moments,
To God you look for light.

Our Savior’s Tear
By Randal S. Doaty
He knew the fate of Lazarus -
That death would be undone,
Yet Jesus shed a teardrop
Before God’s work began.
The blessed tear of Jesus
Was meant for all to see.
His pain, he mourned it openly
With deepest empathy.
A part of you feels missing;
A precious life not here!
Yet as a friend of Jesus,
You too receive His tear.
As you grieve this painful loss,
Hold firm to faith and hope,
And know our Savior truly cares,
That this may help you cope.
We know the happy ending
Our Savior has in store,
Yet even Jesus had to weep
When grief knocked at his door.

The Changing Path
By Randal S. Doaty
God’s call, which we have followed,
Sometimes can disappear.
Leave earthy hearts to wonder
That which seemed so clear.
To us, the destination,
A place of hope and dreams,
Now lost in disappointment,
No point to us it seems.
But God can see more clearly
The route that we must take.
Look closely at your journey -
This path was no mistake!
In time we’ll have a better view -
Appreciate God’s plan,
And that which we once hoped for,
Well, then we’ll understand.
Life – a long and winding path,
God’s compass be your guide,
Believe in faith - this is His way,
In Him we must abide!

The Christmas Tree Teardrop
By Randal S. Doaty
I save a place each holiday
Upon our Christmas Tree.
A tear of sweet remembrance,
This tear for you, from me.
And there among the ornaments
Your special tear of glass
Will honor all the love we shared -
Remain as time shall pass.
WhileYet some may look and wonder
Why I display your tear,
Those who truly know grief’s path
Will know why it is here.
I have not forgotten you;
My heart is on display.
This teardrop on our Christmas Tree
Shows love is here to stay!
The Christmas Tree Teardrop
Each year shall have a place,
Until we both shall meet again
And share our warm embrace.

The College Tear
By Randal S. Doaty
We know how much you’ll miss them,
And notice they’re not here;
Endure their empty seat and bed,
Lament they won’t be near.
A parent’s greatest joy -
To watch their children grow.
Yet all the while preparing for
The day when they must go.
Proud – an understatement,
Of who they have become,
Your tears, more pride than sadness,
Of how life’s race they’ve run.
We know that you adore them;
Your love for them is sure.
You’ve planted faith and character -
That lasts for evermore!
This tear of glass – no parting gift;
Reminder…let it be.
The teardrops you have shed for them
Just love the world can see.

The Survivor’s Tear
By Randal S. Doaty
Grief can tear your heart apart
And pierce your very soul,
And shallow words in times like these
Will never make you whole.
Yet you are not alone;
So many know your pain
When loved ones choose to end their life
And we must still remain.
The answers you’re now seeking
May haunt you day and night,
But someday you may understand
Though none shall make it right.
And please don’t try to carry
This very heavy load.
Seek help from those who understand
This very rocky road.
Please join with all survivors,
Who too have walked your path,
To know that you can overcome
The painful aftermath.

Why?
By Randal S. Doaty
Our flesh cries out for answers
As Satan whispers: why?
Assumptions based on earthly ways
Gives purpose to his lies.
Unfair – our wretched circumstance
As evil has its way –
No justice for the innocent?
The voice inside may say.
But “why” is Satan’s anchor,
His tool to hold us back,
Life’s journey cannot move ahead.
You’re open to attack!
Cut loose the “whys” that anchor you;
Seek not what can’t be found.
In faith set sail - trust God again,
His voice - the only sound.
This tear of glass reminds you
Forget those questions why.
Surrender whys to God above;
In Him your trust must lie.
